  4. Well done Jaynie, you are amazing, so natural,so confident and you are looking so well. You should do more on TV about breast feeding, natural birthing etc. Maybe have your own show when you are recovered?
    You have impressed me again!
Go Jaynie go, wish you lots of luck, health and love, Bett

  8. I was shocked at some of the rude comments on the Close Up FB page about your story.
There were so many people saying "just give them formula".
That was the inspiration for my Apples and Pears post (http://parenting.anythingbaby.co.nz/parenting-blogs/mum-with-mouth/apples-pears/).
No one has a problem with eating pears from someone else's tree, but the second the pears become breastmilk, it is 'icky' and formula is proposed as a better option.
I really applaude you Jaynie for speaking out about milk sharing and hopefully helping more people to realise what a wonderful thing it is.
Lots of love to you all!

  9. Hey Jaynie - I had the very same predicament with my breastfeeding 14 month old son last October when I too was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer aged 34. There was no facility or milk bank here in Christchurch and I was forced to use bottles/formula. I praise your strength, determination and courage in sharing your story and hope it eventually leads to the establishment of a national milk bank facility for anyone else that may be in our devastating situation. Looks like I had my double mastectomy just 2 days before you (I had to have my chemo first) and if you ever want to talk about the chemo, fertility treatment or just know someone walks beside you - please get in touch. In the meantime its like a tightrope walk where you just keep putting one foot in front of the other and before you know it you'll be out the other side - albeit with a few wobbles here and there. Here's some food for thought to make you smile...
